Alesya Dumova started Dumova Tennis in 2012 after seeing that there was a need for high performance instruction for all ages and levels within the Westchester tennis community. Alesya is originally from the Soviet Union, and started playing tennis at the age of 9 after moving to Brooklyn. By the time she was 12, Alesya earned third place at Super Winter Nationals, ranked #1 in the Eastern Section in her age group, and was top 10 in the 16s, a unique accomplishment for such a young player. Over the next few years, Alesya’s skills continued to progress and she was ranked #1 in the 18s Eastern Section by the time she was 14, was selected to participate in all 18yr old Super National Championship Events, and won the New York State Championships. As one of the top players in the nation, Alesya was selected for the USTA Eastern Section, representing them in the Junior Federation Cup when she was 15. Alesya then went on to play internationally and was ranked top 50 in the ITF junior circuit, and by the time she was 16, she attended the qualifying for the U.S. Open in 2002.

After completing a homeschool high school program, Alesya was recruited to the tennis program at San Diego State University. While attending SDSU as a scholar-athlete, Alesya achieved many goals including acting as team captain and attending the NCAA’s for 3 years, earning All-MWC honors in doubles, and ranking No. 29 in the ITA regional polls. Upon graduation, Alesya worked in Miami and Westchester County with many high performance juniors competing at the national and pro levels. Many of her students have gone on to play for D1 colleges such as University of Colorado, Tulane, Wake Forest,  Georgetown, Washington University, and University of Miami, as well as elite liberal arts schools including Bates, Colgate, and Hamilton. Alesya has also acted as a travel coach and manager for prominent junior players including several who have participated in the junior US Open, the Orange Bowl, the junior Davis cup, and the Women’s US Open. In addition to inspiring young juniors to reach their potential, Alesya also has a passion for nurturing players of all ages and skill levels. Alesya has taught many players who take on tennis for the first time as adults and end up finding success by quickly moving from beginner to USTA leagues as well as winning championships at their local country clubs. Alesya’s passion for teaching tennis to players of all ages and abilities is demonstrated by their ongoing successes and accomplishments at all levels of play.
